New Poem: Caught

3-10-17a

I think I will write a whimsical and somewhat morbid poem about unrequited love. No one has done that before, right?

Caught

Dancing awkwardly
through the inviting air
dipping and diving
rising and twirling
flitting unawares
and unconcerned

Until I halt
with a jarring jolt
wings beating unevenly
desperate for the wind
until exhaustion sets in
and I surrender

The unseen strand is revealed
and I marvel at it
transfixed and waiting
anxious and curiously calm
knowing what comes next
waiting for my demise
