Cynicism is easy. You look out to the horizon and view an endless sea of injustices and it is easy to think you will never get across it. Sexism, racism, heterosexism, cis-sexim, economic abuse, war, diseases easily cured if not for greed, children starving despite there being plenty of food, and so much more that it seems the smart thing to do is to throw up your hands and say it just cannot be done. I have made no bones in the past regarding my (mostly) casual enjoyment of pornography. I understand that there have been serious problems in the past, that there continue to be problems, and that if not discussed and put into context pornography has serious ramifications for women. Last night was a rough night at work. What I do is usually pretty fulfilling. I can, after all, say I am now a professional activist. It is nice to know that I am working to be part of the solution. Every once in a while though you have one of those days.
